Diecisiete gente es muerto. They died in a fatal car accident in Haiti. On a blind curve, a group taxi hit a truck. This happened in Aquin, Haiti. The terrible accident happened Saturday morning.

Nosotros miramos Motorcycle Diaries en clase martes y jueves. I actually liked the movie a lot. It was really interesting. It made me want to do something like that in my lifetime. It probably won't happen, but I would like for it to.

engagement

Las gentes compran anillos. In Rio de Janeiro, people are buying cheap imitations of Kate's engagement ring. The ring was Princess Diana's and now her son, Prince William has given the $45,000 ring to Kate Middleton.You can buy a copy of the ring for only 3 dollars. And I just realized I wrote a blog over a country that is not spanish. Whoops.

Happy Thanksgiving

Feliz accion de gracias! I didn't know what thanksgiving would be in spanish, so that's the translator's version. For Thanksgiving I ate a delicious cajun turkey at my dad's house among other things. Then at 6 I ate a yummy ham at my mom's house. I also ate 3 pieces of pie. Then my family played apples to apples and skipbo. All in all I had a wonderful thanksgiving!

Colombia

President Santos piense Fabian Ramirez es muerto. Fabian is the top guerrilla in Colombia. His pistols, rucksack, and computers were found at the place where a bombing occurred. He was 47 years old and he worked for Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. Atleast 6 dead bodies have been found and one of them could be his.

El mercado

yo comi dos veces en el mercado. Duenos de tiendas vendieron ropa a mi desde manana hasta noche. This week we learned about shopping, especially in the markets in spanish countries. We also learned the preterite tense and how to use them when talking about what we would do at a market.

Un terremoto

Un terremoto occurre (occurrir) en Santo Domingo. The earthquake caused no damage in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic, even though it had a 5.6 magnitude. This earthquake that occurred on Saturday is said to be an aftershock from the devastating earthquake that happened almost a year ago in Haiti. The earthquake that happened on January 12, 2010 killed 300,000 people.

In class on Thursday we learned our colors in spanish. La rosa de Texas es amarilla. El cafe es cafe. El oceano Atlantico es azul. La cebra es negra y blanca.

airplane crash

Veintiocho extranjeros mueren en avion. In Havana, Cuba, teams recovered the last of the dead bodies from the air plane crash. The plane crashed into the mountainous part of the country. 68 total people died. All of the bodies were burned except two of them. The identification process has been easier because all of the passengers were still in their seats, which means they had no time to react before crashing into the mountains.

El seis de noviembre es la fecha. We learned how to say the date as well as the months. We also learned about weather. Hace frio means its cold, hace calor means its hot, and hace viento means its windy. The seasons are otono, invierno, primavera, and verano.

chapter 4

Yo hago deportes. This week we learned about verbs with irregular yo forms along with stem changing verbs. In all of the stem changing verbs the nosotros form is always regular. We also learned about the verbs ver, which is to see, and oir, which is to hear.

Haite

La gente es muy enferma en Haiti. There has been an outbreak of Cholera in Haiti. Over 200 people have already been counted dead since the earthquake in January. Along with the 200 deaths, 2000 have been counted as sick with Cholera. The living conditions don't help with this illness.

humpback whales

Hay setenta y cinco las ballenas muertas en Brazil. This is a record of dead humpback whales found on the shore of Brazil. In 2007 the record was 41. Scientists are debating whether its disease that is killing the whales or if it is the warming waters killing the krill that the humpback whales eat. Most of the whales have died out in the ocean and then washed up on shore but a few have washed up on shore and then perished.

Me gusta practicar deportes. Me mucho gusta al futbol. I play soccer for WT. I have played since i was four and I absolutely love it. It is a sport that takes a lot of discipline, hard work, and heart.

Arruda

Arruda es expulsar. In Sao Paulo in Brazil, a girl was expelled from her private college. She was expelled for wearing a pink mini skirt. She was literally chased out of the college with students calling her mean things. The school was forced to pay her $20,000 in compensation for this scandal. Since then, Arruda has become quite famous, including coming out with her own clothing line.

Mi hermano

Mi hermano es rubio. His name is Thomas. He is six years old. He has fair skin and blue eyes. He is very silly and he never has a dull moment. I love this little boy with all my heart.:)

President Fernando Lugo

President Fernando Lugo esta muy mal. He is the President of Paraguay. He is battling cancer and so he traveled to Brazil for treatment of an infection. He has fluids building up in his neck from a problem with his teeth. His vice president will be taking care of the country for the next five days.

Familia

Yo tengo siete hermanos. I have three brothers and four sisters. Their names are Skylar, Sarah, Brooklyn, Molly, Bradley, Thomas, and Kylee. I don't live with all of them though. They are split between my mom and step dad and my dad and stepmom. I love them all.

Yo estoy delante de pizarra. This week I learned that this means that I am in front of the chalkboard. Estar means how to be. It is your well being, health, condition, and location. It is not permanent like ser is. Ser is to be what.

journalists' safety

Los periodistas necesitan proteccion. Before I continue on to my current event, I have to say that I couldn't remember if even though periodistas is masculine and feminine that you would put los if there were men journalists. Anyways, Mexico is one of the most dangerous places to report from. Many journalists are being assaulted and threatened by drug traffickers. Journalists try to leave out important details about kidnappings and murders to help protect themselves. This doesn't keep them from getting grenades thrown at broadcast stations though. They still need more protection.

9 commanders kidnapped in Mexico

Nueve justicieros han sido secuestrados. An armed gang kidnapped these men in Guerrero. The group of nine commanders were going to look at a dead body. The commanders superiors realized something was wrong when the commanders stopped communicating. Officials say that they were taken by an unknown group. The Mexican army has been trying really hard to help find these men.

La UNAM

La Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico es muy grande. The school enrolls about 270,000 students. It has become one of the largest colleges in the world. UNAM was founded in 1551. This makes UNAM the second oldest school in North America.

The shortest man

Edward Nino Hernandez es muy tio. El es de Colombia. This 24 year old man is 2ft, 3.46in tall and spoke to the press beside Colombia's President, Juan Manuel Santos on September 9, 2010. He is being recognised for bieng the world's shortest man in the 2011 version of Guiness Book of World Records. I thought this was a funny current event! :)

Yo aprendo definite y indefinite articulos. El, la, los, y las translate to the english article "the." Un, una, unos, y unas translate to the english articles a, an, and some. Depending on whether the noun is feminine or masculine or singular or plural helps you to know which article to use.
